Hi my name is McKenna! I am going to college at Ivy Tech. My current major is a healthcare specialist but I am hoping to get into medical sonography school next year. Being awarded the scholarship was the best thing that could have happened to me after all of my schooling. It truly has made everything feel worth it and is my biggest accomplishment. This scholarship has helped me already pay for my schooling and take any weight off my shoulders that would’ve been there without it. Being self supporting since 18 has been an incredibly hard but the Eisenhower’s have made things easier for me financially and as a support system. I’ll forever be thankful!

Getting the Isenhower scholarship has been more than a blessing. This scholarship gave me the opportunity to forward my education and further my dreams. I am so beyond grateful for the people that have helped along the way. I plan on working with kids on the spectrum, learning more about behavioral analysis. As well as try to understand what is going on inside their head and why they do certain things. I want to make kids feel confident and comfortable in their own skin and help them grow to be their own individuals. As for my major, I will be taking psychology. Just a base of knowledge that will help forward my plans In behavioral analysis.

The Isenhower Scholarship was the biggest blessing to me. Living in a single parent household with siblings made college stressful to think about, specifically the financial aspect. I was unsure of how it would be paid for. I remember Mr. O’Rourke coming to me to tell me I had been nominated for an important scholarship. He encouraged me to reach all of my goals and was there to support me through every step. He reminded me that I could come to him for anything and was always there to lend a helping hand. He even checked in before and after my interview, something he has no idea how much I appreciated. The Isenhower scholarship has provided so many opportunities for me and I am forever honored to have been a recipient of the Isenhower Scholarship. While in college, I have been on my school’s Dean’s List and now have a head start in life with the help of this scholarship. With this scholarship I not only gained financial help, but a family.
I am going to school at IUPUI taking pre-nursing courses. I’m still working at Walmart during my free time as a cashier. I spend my weekends hanging out with my friends and family and just having fun!

The Isenhower Scholarship really helped me with the stress of college. I was scared to go to school because I didn’t know how I would pay for it, but this scholarship helped to alleviate the fear and stress that I had with continuing my education. Now, I’m going to school with less worries than I was before.

The IsenhowerScholarship in my opinion is one of the best scholarships awarded to seniors. The ability to use the scholarship in any way for your future endeavors makes it not only versatile, but unique. What also makes the IsenhowerScholarship so special is the students in which are awarded the scholarship and those nominated. I spoke with several other nominees for this scholarship, and it is bittersweet because each student is deserving of this scholarship. Each IsenhowerScholarship nominee has faced some form of adversity that could have impeded their ability as a student. The scholarship allows nominated students at Lebanon to have the ability to further their education or aid with their future career goals. I was humbled to be one of the recipients of the IsenhowerScholarship because every nominated student has faced trials and tribulations that often go unnoticed. I will always speak highly of this scholarship and am grateful for the opportunities it has presented for me.

I have amazing family and friends who have encouraged me to succeed in the goals I want to achieve for myself and for my future. The IsenhowerFamily scholarship has been an incredible opportunity for me to succeed into my future career. I have not had the easy experience in my life. I was and still am independent ever since I was fourteen years old. I have had to have a job to support myself with important things I needed throughout my high school year.
I am doing better than I ever have. I have my own home, pay my own bills etc. I am getting through my second year of college, getting good grades, and staying on track with schoolwork as well as being able to have time to work. I was and still am grateful that I was granted this scholarship because it has helped me to get into the classes I need, the books that I needed to buy and the gas I needed to get to and from my college. This scholarship has taught me to know that there are incredible opportunities to help me throughout my college experience and that there are so many good people that are right by my side to support me through every step of the way.

The IsenhowerFamily Scholarship has done more for me than imaginable. To begin, I started high school with no idea if I’d even have a chance at college. Then halfway through my principal Kevin O’Rourke took became one of my biggest supporters and mentors. I found out I was nominated for the IsenhowerScholarship. Being nominated alone sparked a fire within me that I really am capable of a future. When I was sitting on the stage and heard my name announced I almost didn’t believe it. My first thought was “I’m going to go to college.” Having won the scholarship I not only received funds to support my education, Igained a family and support system. I am forever grateful for the Isenhowerfamily.
I made the dean’s list during one of the hardest years of school and the world. During covid I was not working due to everything shutting down. Worried on how I’d pay my tuition that year I utilized the Isenhowerscholarship. I am very blessed and honored to have been a recipient of the scholarship and can only stress how vital this fund is to the community. I faced a lot of adversity and challenges a child shouldn’t face growing up. This scholarship essentially showed someone like me who never imagined I’d win anything academically let alone a scholarship for college, that anything is possible.
I am in my senior year of college for Bachelor in Science of Nursing. I graduate May 2022. I plan on going to Eskenazi and work in the Trauma Unit. I plan on going back to school after a year or so of nursing.

I am too grateful for this scholarship because it helped pay for my parking pass, textbooks, supplies, as well as courses. The scholarship was very lenient and allowed me to choose how much each semester got which I really appreciated because my freshman year was cheaper than my sophomore year.
I am so appreciative of being able to have the support from the Community Foundation of Boone County as well as the Isenhower’s. They are a great group and made my college experience so much better. 🤍
I am a senior this year at IUPUI pursuing a degree in public relations. I am currently working at a clinic and volunteering with on campus programs to better my community. In the coming year I hope to build my portfolio and develop post-secondary plans.
I would not have been able to attend college if it weren't for this scholarship and I'm grateful for their commitment to my education.

The Isenhowerscholarship was my saving grace. As a first generationcollege student living in a single parent household, college was something I worried about financially. At times, I wondered if it were out of the question, especially after my mom lost her job senior year. When I received the Isenhowerscholarship, a sense of relief and hope came over me because I knew I would be able to go to my dream school, Purdue, to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. It was the Isenhowerscholarship that played a big role in my ability to graduate 100% debt free, giving me a head start in life and I truly believe it will impact my family for generations to come, as I believe my future children and grandchildren will be able to go to college without worries.
UPDATE: Yes! I earned my Bachelors in Nursing degree from Purdue University and spent 2 years bedside as an ICU nurse. I am now pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Nurse Anesthesiology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fl, where I will graduate in May of 2026. I am super grateful for the Isenhower Family Scholarship, as I truly believe I would not be where I am today without it.
